Scenic rides
not to miss in Switzerland

Albula and Bernina by train

Approx. time needed

1 day round trip

6.5 hours to Tirano

Besides the well known "Glacier Express" between Zermatt and St. Moritz, there is a very scenic stretch of railroad that offers you even more and more exciting views on a fantastic journey taking you from the Alpine valley of the Rhine in Chur up to the picturesque Engadine mountain valley, then on a pass peaking at 2300 m (7700 ft.) and on a steep ride down in the warm Italian valley of Valtellina, known for its gorgeous wines.

The starting point is in Chur (the trip from Zurich to there is also beautiful). You can either try the one-day-trip giving you just the time for lunch at your final destination Tirano, or spend a night there or in Pontresina in Engadine, which is also nice.
